Craig Perue

Research Fellow and Senior Consultant, MONA School of Business, University of the West Indies

Craig Perue is a Research Fellow and Senior Consultant at the Mona School of Business & Management, in The University of the West Indies, where he researches and teaches innovation, digital transformation and project management.

Craig has made a career out of discerning the direction and speed of frontier technologies, and using that discernment to develop and lead change programmes in large organizations and public policy. In doing so Craig uses his keen understanding of the business environment, organizational context, and cutting-edge technologies to work with executive teams and inclusive stakeholder groups to design strategies that lead to success. As a technologist, a strategist, and a project manager, Craig appreciates that widescale change has to be approached at the level of individuals, teams, as well as larger organizational units. In his work with leadership teams, he emphasizes the importance of both systems thinking and anticipatory thinking as part of strategy design; the value of rigorous monitoring during implementation as well as the value of nimbleness to take advantage of opportunities that emerge from operating in complex environments.

It is no surprise then that Craig’s most recent work focuses on helping leaders who take Analytic and Generative AI seriously develop transformation frameworks to figure out the implications for corporate strategy, platforms, and business ecosystems. At the level of national policy, working with the Broadcasting Commission of Jamaica, UNESCO and other partners, he led the development of Jamaica’s national policy framework for Digital, Media and Information Literacy. Before that he worked with the UNDP to help launch the UN Sustainable Development Goals into the consciousness of Jamaican technology entrepreneurs, many of whom he had helped coach as the Caribbean Training Programme Manager for the World Bank funded Caribbean Mobile Innovation Programme. Over his 20+ years career, he has worked on international development projects funded by the Inter-American Development Bank, DFID (UK), IDRC (Canada), and the USAID. He is a certified Corporate Director, strategist, and project manager.
