Datuk Zurkarnain Mohd Yasin is a senior communications regulator and digital policy leader with more than 25 years of experience shaping Malaysia’s communications and digital landscape.
As Senior Advisor (Operations) at the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), he provides strategic leadership on regulatory priorities that advance digital governance, trusted connectivity and a resilient digital ecosystem.
He plays a key role in advancing Malaysia’s communications and online safety regulatory frameworks, with a focus on platform accountability, consumer protection, child online safety, harmful content, misinformation and emerging technology risks. He also serves on Malaysia’s Online Safety Committee, supporting national efforts to strengthen online safety and digital trust.
At the international level, Datuk Zurkarnain represents Malaysia on the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Council and contributes to global discussions on cybersecurity, digital governance and emerging technologies.
Drawing on extensive experience at the intersection of policy, technology and regulation, he advocates a balanced approach to digital transformation that enables innovation while ensuring that the digital environment remains safe, trusted and inclusive.
