Senior Director, Monitoring, Compliance & Investigations, Broadcasting Commission Jamaica

Don Dobson is a former Senior Director of Communications at the Broadcasting Commission of Jamaica (BCJ). In 2022 he was appointed as the Commission’s Senior Director of Monitoring, Compliance and Investigations. In that capacity, he leads a team of professionals who are responsible for the investigation of complaints from the public, monitoring broadcasting operations and advising the Commission on measures to enforce compliance with standards and licence obligations.

He is a strong proponent of digital literacy as a vital regulatory response and continues to play an instrumental role in the BCJ’s strategic response to digital age challenges. His immediate focus is to modernise the Commission’s monitoring operations to support its strategic objective of protecting vulnerable citizens and being a responsive, evidence-based and innovative regulator.

Mr Dobson holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Media and Communication with Honours and a Master of Arts Degree in Integrated Marketing Communication with Distinction, both from the University of the West Indies, and a Master of Science Degree in Sport Management with Distinction from the University of Stirling, Scotland. He is also a Chevening Scholar.
