Korean Film Council (KOFIC) is an institution under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Korea(ROK). It establishes policies and supports the entire value chain of the industry, including film production, distribution, education/training programs, overseas exchanges, and more. With its wide array of policies and initiatives, KOFIC bolsters a strong foundation for the sustainable growth of Korean films.

For more than 25 years since joining KOFIC in 1999, Hyoun-soo Kim has been in charge of various tasks, the most prominent was creating and launching the real-time box-office information system called KOBIS (Korea Box-office Information System). He has also worked for the support of various sector within the industry; arthouse cinema, equity investment funds for the production, training program of KAFA (Korean Academy of Film Arts; training institution under KOFIC), and international promotion for the Korean cinema, etc. Lastly, he served as the director of Film Policy department and currently working as the director of Funding and Support department from 2022 to the present.
