John Khiangte is the Director of Government Affairs & Public Policy at Microsoft, based in Gurgaon, where he also leads the company’s cybersecurity policy efforts. He is part of Microsoft’s Corporate, External, and Legal Affairs (CELA) team—a multifaceted group responsible for managing legal, regulatory, and government affairs, ensuring compliance with legal standards, and engaging with external stakeholders to advance strategic initiatives.
Prior to joining Microsoft, John served as Executive Director of Global Public Policy at Disney-Star India, where he led a team addressing regulatory issues across television broadcasting, online streaming, copyright, and technology regulation.
His 20 years of professional experience also include roles as Director of Government Affairs at PLR Chambers, Policy Analyst at Amway India, Research Head at Albright Stonebridge Group (India), and Analyst at the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) India.
John holds a master’s degree in economics from the Delhi School of Economics, specializing in the economics of regulation, public policy, and international trade, as well as a bachelor’s degree in economics from Sri Ram College of Commerce.
