Julián Casasbuenas G

Julián Casasbuenas G, chemical engineer from the University of America, Bogotá, Colombia, has over thirty years of experience in the field of information and communication technologies (ICT) and environmental management. Member of the Council of the Association for Progressive Communications (APC), member of the Internet Society, mentor for the LACNIC Leaders Program, and jury member for the Connecting the Unconnected program of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). He was a member of the Multistakeholder Advisory Group (MAG) of the Internet Governance Forum (IGF) 2016-2018 and is coordinator of the Colombian Internet Governance Forum. He is currently the director of Colnodo (www.colnodo.apc.org), a non-profit organization established in 1993. His management at Colnodo has been key to the leadership of projects and services that strengthen communication and information exchange between Colombian organizations at various levels. In addition, he has promoted the development of community networks in Colombia, which, being collectively managed and owned, seek to optimize the quality of life in their communities, minimize the digital divide, and promote social inclusion through community autonomy, with the accompaniment and support of Colnodo.
