Mahima Kaul is Director of Public Policy at Netflix India, where she leads engagement with government, industry, and civil society to help shape India’s media and entertainment policy landscape. She focuses on navigating regulatory developments, advocating for an enabling environment for the creative sector, and fostering partnerships—such as skill development initiatives under the The Netflix Fund for Creative Equity.
Before Netflix, Mahima was Director of Public Policy, Asia Pacific at Bumble, where she established the policy function across the region and worked on issues like dating app safety, AI harms, and regulatory compliance. She also launched stakeholder dialogues in India and Australia. Previously, she led public policy for Twitter India for 6 years, managing government partnerships and civic engagement through programs like #TwitterForGood. She has worked with the Observer Research Foundation (ORF) as head of the Cyber and New Media Initiative and launched and served as co-chair of India’s cyber policy conference, CyFy.
Mahima began her career in journalism and development, working with Index on Censorship, The Indian Express, Video Volunteers, and the Digital Empowerment Foundation. She holds a Master’s in Communication Policy from the University of Westminster and has studied at McGill University, St. Stephen’s College, and Welham Girls’ School.
