Dr Mashilo Boloka is the Chief Executive Officer of Film and Publication Board (FPB), an online content regulatory authority in the Republic of South Africa (RSA). He holds a doctoral degree in media studies and has taught at various universities.
A passionate ambassador for online safety policy within the African content and internationally. Dr Boloka and the FPB serves as chair of the steering committee on Harmonisation of content regulation in Africa, with membership of 6 regulatory entities from different African countries, including Nigeria, Kenya, eSwatini and others.
Dr Boloka has more than 15 years of work experience in public service in various capacities, he possesses immense experience in public broadcast services, policy development and regulatory oversight. He joined the board of the International Hotline Operators Network (INHOPE) in 2022, and he was recently appointed to serve as the Vice chairperson of the Global Online Safety Regulators Network (GOSRN) to commence his term in 2024.
