Michael Yoon manages global safety policy for APAC. He began at Facebook in 2016, and engages with safety partners, policy makers, and NGOs on safety issues, including those related to children, women, and vulnerable persons. Prior to joining Facebook, Mr Yoon served as a federal prosecutor with the U.S. Department of Justice for over ten years – as a Trial Attorney in Washington, D.C., and an Assistant United States Attorney in Boston, Massachusetts – investigating and prosecuting child exploitation, human trafficking, and organized crime. He began his career as an Assistant State’s Attorney in Chicago, Illinois, and for seven years, prosecuted crimes, including those related to street violence and gang activity. Mr Yoon received a B.S. in Journalism from Boston University, and J.D. from Chicago-Kent College of Law.
