Monica Estrada is Head of Privacy Policy for Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean at Meta.
She is a lawyer from Escuela Libre de Derecho in Mexico. She worked for 10 years in the public sector. In the national authority for access to information and data protection (now INAI), she was Deputy Director of Classification and Personal Data, and Head of the Office of the President Commissioner, where she was in charge of integrating the files and preparing the draft rulings of review appeals on access to information and personal data.
She was Chief of Staff to the Minister of Public Education. She has been a college professor -at Escuela Libre de Derecho and at the National Autonomous University of Mexico- in the fields of Right to Information, Personal Data Protection and Administrative Law, and has
written various articles on personal data protection and classified information. She worked for 10 years as an independent legal consultant on public policy, personal data protection and digital rights. Today she is part of the Privacy Policy team at Meta.
