Nora Santalu is a Senior Associate in the privacy and data protection team at Bird & Bird in London, advising on GDPR and the EU AI Act with a particular focus on biometric technologies, general purpose AI models and fraud prevention tools. She has extensive experience advising on the regulation of biometric systems, automated decision-making and data brokering arrangements, and was an expert adviser to the European Parliament on the regulation of biometrics in the EU and was invited to speak at the American Bar Association on the regulation of neurotechnologies under the EU AI Act. Nora brings valuable practical insight from multiple secondments within the financial services sector and has spoken at leading industry events including IAPP AIGG Europe, as well as being cited by the Harvard Cyberlaw Clinic and the International Journal of Applied Engineering.
