Peter Merrigan is a Senior Investigator who has been with the Electronic Messaging Compliance Unit (EMCU) since 2011. The EMCU is the regulatory arm of Internal Affairs tasked with regulating and enforcing the Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act 2007.
Mr Merrigan’s role is to detect and investigate serious, complex, deliberate and harmful non-compliance of the Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act. Mr Merrigan is also tasked with maintaining stakeholder relationships and developing effective working relationships with international enforcement agencies to facilitate the sharing of information.
Mr Merrigan is part of the New Zealand Internet Task Force, which looks to improve the cyber security posture of New Zealand, and the London Action Plan, which seeks to promote international spam enforcement cooperation.
