Mr. Rajiv Aggarwal is the Senior-Vice President for Public Affairs and ESG at Samsung Southwest Asia. Before joining the corporate world in Uber, and then Meta (then Facebook India), he had worked from grassroots to global level as an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer. This included being a District Magistrate in 9 districts (Varanasi, Prayagraj, Muzaffarnagar, Jhansi to name a few) across Uttar Pradesh, the most populous state in India. Amongst a host of policy initiatives, as Joint Secretary in the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT, M/o Commerce), he steered India’s first ever national policy on Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs), and was the lead negotiator with other nations on IPRs for the Government of India. He has to his credit the establishment of new organizations, like the Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (as its first MD).
An experienced hand at public administration in a career spanning over 26 years, he has dealt effectively with highly volatile situations and managed mega events successfully.
