Shinji Kawakami was appointed Deputy Department Manager, Department of Policy and Planning in Aizuwakamatsu City on July 2019. He is in charge of smart city, overcoming population decline and vitalizing local economy.
Prior to this he was the Deputy Director, International Cooperation Division, Global Strategy Bureau, Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC), Deputy Counsellor, Critical Infrastructure Protection Group, National center of Incident readiness and Strategy for Cybersecurity (NISC), Cabinet Secretariat and in 2010 entered the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications.
Mr Kawakami has over 10 years of experience in ICT, broadcasting, mobile phones, and international affairs since he entered the government in 2010.
