Netflix has announced plans to ban diesel generators from shoots following a review of the company’s carbon footprint, reports the Financial Times. The study showed that it was the production process that generated the much the highest carbon emissions rather than the data centres used for streaming. The cleaner approach will involve use of battery power and ground transport, employing local crews, reduced air travel and greater use of virtual production techniques. The company aims to cut direct emissions by 45 per cent by 2030, and reach net zero by 2022 through offsetting.
