Back to the Future: According to the British Film Institute, great films that were set in the 2020s include Mission to Mars (2000) which is set in 2020; Soylent Green (1973) set in 2022; Metropolis – Giorgio Moroder version (1927/1984) set in 2026; The Terminator (1984) set in 2029; and, pictured above, Japanese anime film Ghost in the Shell (1995) which is set in 2029.
